Nyasha Bikwa

Paralegal

Nyasha holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Fort Hare (UFH) in South Africa, and is currently undertaking a master’s degree in Competition Law and Regulation in South Africa.

During her years as a law student, Nyasha was a Facilitator that assisted other students in their various modules with assignments and legal writing and this broadened her knowledge for legal research. Amongst many other things, Nyasha is also an award-winning student for her academic excellency with the University of Fort Hare.

Nyasha has worked as an Intern for a Law Firm in East London South Africa and gained skills in drafting documents, time management and most importantly the need to meet deadlines and work under pressure, which are essential attributes for a paralegal. Moreover, Nyasha has an excellent professional work ethic that is complemented by her ability to tackle difficult situations with a smile.

Nyasha has been involved with various entities such as the Competition Commission of South Africa, and that has given her the drive to dream even bigger. She was one of the two selected students from her university to attend the 16th Annual Competition law, Economics and Policy Conference in 2022 hosted by the Competition Commission of South Africa. Nyasha was also part of the Fort Hare Autumn School Leadership Programme hosted by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.  She has also held the Chairperson position for the Amnesty International UFH Chapter, a global human rights organisation.

Nyasha recently moved from South Africa to Australia, Mackay in 2023 and is looking forward to a long term stay in Mackay. In the time she has been here, she has managed to make new friends and adapt to the new environment. In her spare time Nyasha enjoys site seeing and exploring the unique natures of Australia with her husband. In a few words Nyasha is a jack of all trades as at one point she worked as an assistant in nursing while working on getting back into law in Australia after the big move from Africa!
